Reasons to build a custom home:
1. If
you can be somewhat flexible regarding the
closing date/estimated date of the home.
Tip: Remember
that builders do everything possible to stay
on schedule, but weather doesn’t always
cooperate. So, take that into consideration
when you are planning.
2. If
you enjoy making decisions and do not change
your mind often.
Tip: Discuss
likes and dislikes with your significant
other prior to meeting with the builder.
Example: identify which floor covering you
would like and where you would like to place
them.
3. If
you understand that quality construction
takes time. Remember, “Rome was not built
in a day” and if you want your home to stand
the test of time, it will take a reasonable
amount of time to build it right.
Tip:
Find out which choices your builder needs
you to make and how much time
before
he needs an answer. Timely decisions can
speed up the process.
4. If
you are able to locate a builder who offers
the quality of home you prefer and you feel
comfortable discussing your options.
Tip: Open
communications is the key to smooth and
successful building experience so air any
concerns or limitations before you sign on
the dotted line.
5. If
you are realistic about your options and are
content with the product you can afford.
Tip: Find out
what you can afford right away. An
experienced realtor can help you understand
what your options are. New construction
presents unique financing needs. It can
vary from builder to builder. A good
realtor can simplify the process. Once you
know what you can spend everything else will
fall into place.
6. If
you are clear with your ideas and can
communicate them to the builder.
Tip: Speaking
the same language is a lot about listening.
If we all thought like a builder we probably
wouldn’t need their expertise in order to
build a home. Be open to expert suggestions
from your builder.
If you feel comfortable after reading these
guidelines you are probably a perfect
candidate for a stress free and successful
build job. It’s a wonderful experience when
cooperation exists. I’m an experienced
realtor. I can make it happen for you!!
